Requirements
About The Role
As a Southeast Atlantic Driver, you provide door-to-door “white-glove” non-medical transportation for seniors, people with disabilities, and other riders with healthcare appointments. You’ll operate a wheelchair- and stretcher-accessible van, ensure each passenger’s comfort and safety, and represent our concierge-level service with professionalism and compassion.
Duties
– Operate ADA-compliant vans in all weather and traffic conditions.
– Perform pre-trip / post-trip inspections; report maintenance issues.
– Fuel vehicle daily.
– Keep vehicles clean, sanitized, and stocked with PPE.
Passenger Assistance
– Provide courteous, hands-on help with wheelchairs, walkers, or stretchers.
– Provide short and long distance trips.
– While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or listen.
– Secure mobility devices using tie-downs and safety belts.
– Assist riders to and from doors, lobbies, or nurse stations as needed.
Schedule, Documentation & Customer Experience
– Follow daily trip manifest via tablet/app; maintain on-time performance.
– Obtain rider signatures, or collect fares when applicable.
– Document mileage, wait time, and incidents.
– Greet passengers by name, ensure comfort, and communicate professionally.
– Uphold Southeast Atlantic’s standards of dignity, patience, and respect.
– Escalate medical or behavioral concerns promptly to dispatch.
Compliance & Safety
– Adhere to state and federal DOT, ADA, HIPAA, and company policies.
– Conduct emergency procedures (e.g., lift operation, basic first aid) if required.
– Attend safety meetings and ongoing training.
Qualifications & Compensation
Minimum Qualifications
– Age: 23+ years old with a valid Florida driver’s license (CDL or Passenger endorsement a plus).
– Driving Record: Clean MVR (no major violations in past 5 years).
– Experience: Preferred 1+ year of professional driving, NEMT, paratransit, EMS, or related customer-service experience.
– Background: Ability to pass background check and drug screen. Will be subject to random urine and breath alcohol testing throughout employment.
– Skills: Confident driving high-roof vans and operating wheelchair lifts/ramps. Basic smartphone/tablet navigation. Clear spoken English; bilingual Spanish or Creole helpful.
– Physical Requirements: Lift/push 150 lb with assistance, stand/bend, secure wheelchairs, and work up to 10-hour shifts.
